Originally from Hong Kong, Nicole Tung, 22, is a photographer and writer studying journalism and history at New York University.

Nicole has been recognized for her work by Women in Photojournalism (juried exhibition, 2009), and received the James Fenimore Cooper Memorial Prize for excellence in journalism from NYU (2009), the Hearst Photojournalism III Award, the 2009 NYPPA Exhibition Award (Feature Picture Story) and 3rd in the Student Category. She was also selected for the Maybach Foundation’s Excellence in Mentoring Leadership Program, as part of the World Trade Center Documentary Arts Project, and was a recipient of the 2007 NYU Dean’s Undergraduate Research grant for a project in Kosovo. Nicole intends to cover news as well continuing a project on Native Americans.

Her work has also been published in Balkan Insight, Prishtina Insight, Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood, as well as NYU publications including Livewire, Pavement Pieces, and Street Level, all for which she is a regular contributor. She has also interned at ABC News.
